The Nursery

Before our little miracle was born we painted and added some chair rail to his room. We wanted the sex of our baby to be a surprise so we didn't know what we were having. Choosing colors for the room were a little difficult because I didn't want the room to be all pastel colors. So I went with a chocolate brown color that I love and a neutral yellow color that I have all over my house. I separated the two colors with a chair rail- thankfully this room is small so we didn't have to buy a lot of it. Here is the before:

Now, I already told you once already about the previous owners of our home but allow me to once again vent to you how annoyed and confused I was when I looked at these walls. Once again, only two of the four walls were painted and poorly I might add. Not one, not three, not four, but two. It just doesn't make a lick of sense to me.

Now here we are in the process of all the finishing touches- my handy hubby was installing the ceiling fan when he posed for this picture.

We scored this fan for $5.00 at D.I. and it works wonderfully! This room is small but it gets extremely hot in the summer so we thought it best to have a good fan in it for better circulation.

A co-worker gave me these cute curtains:

You'll find that most of the things for this room were extremely cheap or free. Trevor didn't have a job at the time so things were tight. I don't believe we spent more than $50 dollars when we made over this room. Furniture included. The tall dresser and nightstand were my hubby's, the yellow glider was purchased when we had just gotten married. We picked it up for $70.00 brand new at NPS (one of my other most FAVORITE places to score deals)

I found this star at Big Lots for $14.00- It was definitely a splurge but I just HAD to have it, it was blue though so I was a little worried. But I think deep down I knew we were having a boy. I'm glad we had a boy. ;)
I bought 6 8x10 frames at Target for .75 cents each on clearance. They were an ugly gold-ish color so I spray painted them white and sanded them down so they looked antiqued.

The crib and bedding was a hand-me-down from one of my older sisters.

Sorry if the pictures are weird angles. Like I said, this room is pretty small so photographing it is difficult.

Here is the finished product:

The nursery has since changed and I will be posting those updates in another post.
