Kitchen Pantry Cabinet

Well, the furniture in our house has changed once more. 

Since my cake business has been growing the space in my kitchen pantry has been shrinking. 

So I decided to do some looking on KSL for a cabinet that I could use for secondary storage 

(that was a reasonable price of course) 

Cabinets online ranged anywhere from $331-$599... A little out of this girls price range :)

I was imagining something along the lines of this:

So the search was on.

After searching for a couple of days I came across a few that would do the job. I stumbled upon this one, I loved the detail of it (the floral design is hand carved, score!) 

Of course I would be painting it so the color didn't matter much to me. 

I picked up this little pretty for $80 bucks. 

Here is what she looked like before I refinished her:

 It was meant to be an entertainment center but that would change of course

The knobs, I don't HATE them so they will probably stay on it unless I find a great deal at Hobby Lobby at their knobs and fixtures sale.

And here we go. After the first two coats of paint...

 All of the little dents and dings would look so great with a little glazing to pull them out. I was getting very excited at this point! :)

After the paint had cured I sanded it down with the hand sander and applied my black glaze and finished her off with some poly:

 All that's left is putting in some more shelves.

The COMPLETE Kitchen!

I am so excited to say that my little kitchen is 100% complete! 

My sweet husband worked hard to put the crown molding up for me! 

I am in love ! It changes the whole kitchen. 

Now, I need some help...

After looking at the crown molding in it's original color against the cream color of my cabinets, it started to grow on me... Call me crazy but I like the crown in white! If you absolutely hate it, be kind and tell me.
I may end up painting it to match my cabinets but for right now I'm leaving it white. :) 

The space above my cabinets got an overhaul. It feels so much cleaner...

The Entertainment Center {Part II}

This

is what used to hold my TV. I loved it but I needed more space for shelves and storage. so I have been piecing together my own entertainment center. I sold the black one and purchased two other pieces.

This is what I have been working on:

Just today I put wainscoting on the bridge... SO much better! It hides all of those ugly cords!!

This is where we are currently. 
The only thing that I need to do to finish this project is to put up some crown moulding. My husband said he would help me with it this week so check back for some pictures of the finished product!

I'm Home!

Well Friends, it's been 5 LOOONG months but I'm home now. It is so good to be back, I have so many projects that I can't wait to get started on. Hopefully the weather holds up so I can get them all done!

The bathroom is finished!!!

The day has come! I have finished the downstairs bathroom (finally) it only took me 5 months... 

The wonderful thing is that it turned out even better than I was imagining! The other wonderful thing? I didn't have to buy a SINGLE thing for the entire project! Since the space was so small it wasn't really that hard. The chair rail came from a building my hubby was renovating and didn't want to throw it out- SCORE! It wasn't in the best of shape but it worked perfectly for my little 1/2 bath. 

Now, let me tell you how much I LOATH things made in China.

 Last night just as we were putting the finishing touches in the bathroom ie. hanging the picture, window and mirror--- we realized that the brackets on the mirror were fastened 1/2 an inch OFF (this is AFTER we mounted the anchors and screws for it!)!  I got the mirror as a wedding gift and it hasn't really been hung till now- I thought it matched the bathroom perfectly... 

LONG story short we spent over an hour trying to figure out a way to hang it. I won't go into the details but some not so nice things were uttered over that mirror. 

BUT, we prevailed no thanks to Yao Chen or whoever hung those brackets.

News... and the hallway!

Hello everyone! 

 I am honestly so sorry about my sporadic posts lately! I have been busy BUSY! Also, I have been packing... Yes, packing. We have decided to take a job opportunity in Seattle for the next 5-6 months! It's going to be a HUGE leap of faith but we know everything will work out. 

What this means: I will be checking my blog occasionally so feel free to leave comments- I will read all of them and respond! 

I have so many projects in their finishing stages and I will try my very best to get them finished and pictures up before we leave!

This is the project I HAVE to finish before we leave- I want to paint my hallway and hang a "gallery" collage style of pictures. Has anyone seen any of these? I have and I am in love! 

{The "Things" That Make Me Happy part 2}

Projects being completed. 

This makes me UBER happy! We are not quite 100% finished with the kitchen but we are one step closer to it being complete. All we have left to do is put crown molding around the top of the cabinets.
My dear husband finished installing the rest of the hardware on the bottom drawers and cupboards last night! 

Here they are! I LOVE how it looks now! Such a transformation some simple handles and knobs can make!
